OTC CAPITAL BY MINISTER LEE YI SHYAN DURING BLUESKY FESTIVAL
27 July 2006, Singapore – OTC Capital,
an initiative of Phillip Securities, was officially launched
on 27 July 2006, by the Minister of State for Trade and
Industry, Mr Lee Yi Shyan, also the Minister in-charge of
Entrepreneurship, in conjunction with the BlueSky Festival,
an annual event to celebrate the spirit of entrepreneurship.
The first company to avail itself on OTC Capital
is GlobalRoam Group Ltd, an integrated communication services
company. It focuses on providing interactive communication
services leveraging on its proprietary technologies to connect
people across diverse media.
Application for shares of GlobalRoam is now
open to pre-qualified investors and closes on 2 August 2006.
Trading starts on 7 August 2006.
OTC Capital provides an alternative channel
for companies to raise funds for further expansion by way
of the small offers exemption under the newly amended provisions
of the Securities and Futures Act, without having to issue
a prospectus.
Companies which are interested in being quoted
and traded on OTC Capital can submit their applications
to OTC Capital through their appointed Corporate Advisers.
Investors who are interested in investing
in companies quoted on OTC Capital will have to be pre-qualified.
The pre-qualification process is simple and can be done
online through POEMS or by completing forms. Pre-qualified
investors will then be able to access a restricted-access
module for information or trade shares quoted on OTC Capital.
POEMS is the internet trading platform of Phillip Securities.
