Market & Credit Risk Specialist

Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Night Desk Credit Risk Specialist to join our Credit Risk Management team. This critical role involves real-time credit risk monitoring and control during overnight trading hours, covering European and US market sessions. This is also a developmental role whereby, in the medium to long term, you will be given an opportunity to expand your exposure, skills and leadership potential through the expansion of risk management responsibilities from credit risk to enterprise-wide risk.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct overall credit risk management and market surveillance, including monitoring of market movements, marked-to-market positions, credit limits and shortfall positions in real-time during European and US market trading sessions. Approve or reject credit limit increases within delegated authority.
  • Take timely mitigation action on and escalate market-driven conditions or volatility events that pose adverse, material financial and reputational impact to PhillipCapital Group. Mitigation action can include emergency trade suspension, haircut adjustment, forced liquidation and buy back.
  • Monitor exposures to counterparties and securities, and manage concentration risk.
  • Take timely action on high-risk accounts, including accounts approaching or breaching credit limits, margin thresholds, or concentration limits.
  • Collectively drive the transformation of credit risk management in respect of functional consolidation, real-time data analysis and reporting, early warning signals and forward-looking risk intelligence capabilities, and customer centricity (multi-product, single view).
  • Collectively drive the adoption of AI, automation and emerging technology solutions for credit risk management, through the identification of transformation opportunities across workflows, and the design and implementation of use cases.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Economics, Law, Mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline from a reputable institution.
  • Minimum 10 years of credit risk management experience in stockbroking, securities trading, prime brokerage or investment banking, with strong working knowledge of equities, listed derivatives, CFDs and margin trading (including collateral management and margin methodologies).
  • Prior experience in overnight/shift-based credit risk operations and familiarity with US, European and Asian exchanges. Knowledge of clearing and settlement conventions across US, European, and Asian markets.
  • Proficiency in real-time risk monitoring systems and market data platforms (Bloomberg, Reuters, Refinitiv and/or equivalent).
  • Composure and sound judgement under pressure – ability to make sound credit decisions during volatile overnight market events.
  • Strong communication – clear and concise in escalation calls and client communications.
  • Understanding of AI, automation and emerging technologies, preferably with hands-on experience in change management and deployment of AI-enabled solutions.
  • Comfortable working with coding, data, dashboards, and deriving actionable insights.
