Legal Executive

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including client agreements, service agreements, NDAs, vendor contracts and other legal documentation.
  • Provide practical legal advice and support to business units on contractual, commercial and operational matters, balancing legal risk with business objectives.
  • Support new business initiatives, products and strategic projects by identifying legal considerations and working with stakeholders to implement practical solutions.
  • Work closely with Business Assurance and Compliance to support governance initiatives, regulatory implementation and legal documentation arising from new regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with legal due diligence for counterparties, business partners and strategic projects, including reviewing legal documentation and supporting onboarding requirements.
  • Coordinate and manage external legal counsel where specialised legal advice or litigation support is required.
  • Review and update legal templates, contract standards and internal legal processes to improve efficiency and consistency.
  • Conduct legal awareness and knowledge-sharing sessions to improve legal awareness across business units.
  • Monitor developments in relevant laws, regulations and industry practices, and assess their impact on the business.
  • Support special projects and other legal or governance initiatives as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Degree in Law (LLB) or equivalent legal qualification.
  • Called to the Bar or practising qualification is an advantage but not essential.

Experience

  • At least 3 years of relevant legal experience, preferably as in-house counsel or in a law firm supporting financial institutions or regulated businesses.
  • Experience reviewing commercial contracts and advising business stakeholders on legal and contractual matters.
  • Exposure to Singapore financial services regulations or capital markets industry would be advantageous.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong contract drafting, negotiation and legal research skills.
  • Able to provide practical, commercially balanced legal advice rather than purely technical legal opinions.
  • Good understanding of legal risk and governance principles.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. Proficiency in Chinese would be an advantage when reviewing bilingual documentation or communicating with counterparties.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and able to work collaboratively across legal, compliance and business teams.
  • Meticulous, organised and able to exercise sound judgement when handling confidential and sensitive matters.
