AML Compliance Officer

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive AML Compliance Officer to join our Group Compliance Department, reporting to the Head of AML Compliance. The ideal candidate will have 4 to 6 years of experience in Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and financial crime compliance, with a strong understanding either in a capital markets environment or banking/wealth management environment. As part of the Group AML Compliance, the team will be responsible for monitoring, implementing, and improving our AML/CFT framework to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of the AML/CFT framework in line with MAS regulations.
  • Review customer due diligence and transaction monitoring escalated by business units and provide necessary advisory.
  • Review and investigate suspicious transactions and escalate Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) to the authorities within stipulated timeline.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and assess their impact on AML/CFT policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Maintain and update AML/CFT risk assessments and support the risk-based approach to compliance monitoring.
  • Support internal and external audits, regulatory inspections, and prepare responses to AML-related queries.
  • Deliver AML/CFT training to staff to enhance awareness and understanding across the organization.
  • Collaborate with the front office and operation teams to ensure robust AML compliance across business lines.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Business, Accountancy or a related field.
  • 4–6 years of relevant experience in AML compliance, preferably within a capital markets firm, banks or wealth management.
  • In-depth knowledge of AML/CFT laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Professional certification such as CAMS, ICA, or equivalent is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical, investigative, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and handle confidential information with integrity.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Other Optional Attributes:

  • Prior experience liaising with regulators and/or preparing for regulatory inspections.
  • Familiarity with use of data analytics tools such as Tableau and/or use of RPA.
  • Experience with AML screening and transaction monitoring systems.
