About the Internship
At the Phillip Innovation Centre, you will design and build an AI workflow agent for Symphony Digital Assets’ (SDA) Operations & Compliance function – not just use one. A colleague on our Hong Kong FIX onboarding team built exactly this kind of tool for his own workflow (AgentFIXBPRO): starting from one real, repeated problem, he went from idea to a working first version in about two weeks, largely “vibe coded” with AI doing most of the heavy lifting on the build. You will do the same for an Operations workflow at SDA, such as client onboarding, KYC checks, or transaction monitoring follow-ups. You will do the same for a compliance workflow at SDA, starting with Singapore MAS requirements for Digital Payment Token Services and extending to other jurisdictions as SDA grows.
AgentFIXBPRO interprets an incoming update, retrieves the relevant project record, applies domain rules, and proposes an action or status change – while a person remains responsible for the final decision. You bring the operational & compliance problem and domain judgment; AI-assisted development tools help you turn that into a working prototype. You will receive structured onboarding and support from experienced team members as you build. The stakes of getting something wrong in compliance are especially high, so human review of anything your agent proposes is a non-negotiable part of the design, not an afterthought.
About Us
Symphony is our digital asset platform, built as part of our ongoing work to develop digital asset infrastructure in Asia. We focus on solving practical problems in digital finance and delivering scalable solutions, such as:
- Digital Asset Security: Developing robust solutions to safely store and manage digital assets.
- Tokenisation of Securitised Assets: Enabling securitised assets to be issued, managed, and distributed more efficiently through digital infrastructure.
- Automated Settlements: Streamlining processes to improve liquidity and expand access across investor channels.
What You Will Work On
As an intern, you will support operational work across our platform, and build this project:
- Client Onboarding & KYC: Support account opening, KYC/AML documentation checks, and client due diligence in line with regulatory requirements – this is the workflow your agent will be built around.
- Regulatory Research & Mapping: Research MAS (and, where relevant, other regulators’) requirements applicable to SDA’s digital asset business, and map them against SDA’s existing and planned policies – this is the domain knowledge your agent will be built around.
- Build an Operations Workflow Agent: Design and build (with AI-assisted “vibe coding” tools) an agent modelled on AgentFIXBPRO’s architecture – it should interpret operational updates (e.g. client emails, internal messages), retrieve the correct account or project record, apply your team’s rules, and propose a status update or next action for a person to review.
- Build a Compliance Workflow Agent: Design and build (with AI-assisted “vibe coding” tools) an agent modelled on AgentFIXBPRO’s architecture – it should read a regulatory update or drafting request, retrieve the relevant policy text and past decisions, apply SDA’s house drafting rules, and propose draft language or a compliance flag for a person to review.
- Knowledge Base & Rules: Structure the SOPs, playbooks, and milestone definitions your agent needs as its “knowledge,” so its proposals stay grounded in how SDA Operations actually works.
- AI Knowledge Base Build-Out: Structure regulations, internal policies, and past compliance decisions into the knowledge base your agent searches and cites, and check its draft outputs against the source regulation for accuracy.
- Testing & Iteration: Test your agent against real (but controlled) operational scenarios, fix wrong or unsafe proposals, and tighten the boundary between what it may suggest and what a person must approve – reliability comes from iteration, not from the first version.
- Cross-Team Coordination: Work with product, engineering, and compliance teams to make sure your agent’s outputs stay consistent with actual operational and regulatory requirements.
Who We Are Looking For
We are looking for students who are keen to develop operational and problem-solving skills. Ideal candidates will:
- Be studying Business, Banking & Finance, Information Systems, Operations Management, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Be organised and detail-oriented: Comfortable with documentation, checklists, and working with data accurately.
- Be willing to build, not just use, AI tools: Comfortable experimenting with AI-assisted (“vibe coding”) development tools to turn an idea into a working prototype – a deep software engineering background is not required, but you should be curious and willing to learn by doing, the way AgentFIXBPRO was built.
- Understand that AI proposes, humans decide: You will design your agent so it drafts or suggests an action, but a person always reviews and approves it before it becomes the operational record.
- Have an interest in blockchain, digital assets, and cryptocurrency.
- Work well in a team, take ownership of tasks, and adapt in a fast-moving environment.
If you are looking for an environment of growth and opportunities, please send a cover letter with your resume, stating the position applied, present and expected salaries to recruitment@phillip.com.sg
We regret that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
