UX Manager

Role Overview

The UX Manager is responsible for leading the UX team, driving user-centred design practices, and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality digital experiences across multiple platforms. The role oversees UX execution from discovery through delivery, manages team performance and design quality, and works closely with product managers, developers, QA teams, and business stakeholders to align user needs with business objectives.

In addition, the UX Manager serves as the Design System Lead, owning the governance, evolution, adoption, and quality standards of the organisation’s Design System. The role establishes design standards, governance processes, implementation guidelines, and documentation to ensure consistency, scalability, accessibility, and efficiency across products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor UX designers, fostering a high-performance and collaborative design culture.
  • Manage UX resources, priorities, and project delivery across multiple initiatives.
  • Oversee UX projects from discovery, research, wireframing, prototyping, testing, and validation through delivery.
  • Ensure design quality, accessibility, implementation consistency, and adherence to UX and Design System standards across products.
  • Drive user research, usability testing, and data-informed design improvements.
  • Partner with product managers, developers, QA teams, and business stakeholders to prioritise and deliver customer-focused solutions.
  • Own and govern the Design System, including standards, components, design tokens, accessibility, documentation, and adoption.
  • Define and manage the Design System roadmap to improve scalability, efficiency, and cross-platform consistency.
  • Establish governance, review, and quality assurance processes for UX and Design System adoption across products.
  • Define UX standards and acceptance criteria for accessibility, responsive behaviour, content handling, and Design System implementation quality.
  • Lead design reviews and facilitate alignment across UX, business, product, technology, and QA stakeholders.
  • Ensure Design System decisions, standards, and implementation guidance are documented, communicated, and traceable across teams.
  • Drive Design System adoption through documentation, training, stakeholder engagement, and knowledge sharing.
  • Continuously improve UX practices, Design System adoption, and delivery effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science is preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience leading, mentoring, or managing UX/UI teams.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in UX/UI, Product Design, or Digital Experience Design.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product design, UX thinking, research, and design leadership.
  • Proven experience establishing, maintaining, or governing a Design System, including design tokens, component libraries, accessibility standards, and documentation.
  • Strong knowledge of user-centred design methodologies, design thinking, information architecture, interaction design, usability testing, and accessibility.
  • Proficiency in Figma, FigJam, AI-assisted design tools, prototyping tools, and design collaboration platforms.
  • Strong understanding of design governance, scalable design processes, and balancing user, business, technical, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, stakeholder management, and presentation skills.
