[SINGAPORE, 23 April 2025] – PhillipCapital, a leading integrated Asian financial house, marked its 50th birthday in style with an appreciation gala dinner held this evening at The Grand Ballroom, Fullerton Hotel Singapore. Graced by Ms Gillian Tan, Assistant Managing Director (Development and International) & Chief Sustainability Officer of Monetary Authority of Singapore, the momentous occasion brought together 260 distinguished guests, including clients, partners, media and management staff, to celebrate five decades of growth, innovation, and excellence.
Founded in 1975 as a humble stockbroker, PhillipCapital has weathered several financial storms. It was one of only three brokerage firms that were unharmed by the 1985 Pan Electric Crisis that shut down the Singapore stock exchange for three days. Today, PhillipCapital is a global financial powerhouse with a presence in 15 locations and assets under management exceeding US$65 billion.
In his opening address, Mr Lim Hua Min, Founder and Executive Chairman of PhillipCapital, reflected on the journey of the organisation and expressed heartfelt gratitude to the stakeholders who contributed to its success. He said, “Your presence is not just a tribute to me. It is also an acknowledgement of my many colleagues who have made this journey of enriching lives so meaningful and pleasurable.”
Mr Luke Lim, Managing Director of Phillip Securities, said: “Our theme for this celebration ‘Growing Together, Grateful Always’ perfectly encapsulates the spirit of our journey. We have grown alongside our clients, partners, and employees, and we remain deeply grateful for the trust and collaboration that have brought us to this point.”
Since its inception as a stockbroking firm, PhillipCapital has built a reputation as a trusted financial partner, offering a diverse range of services that include securities & futures broking, commodities trading, foreign exchange, fund management, investment research, and corporate finance. The company’s dedication to excellence and innovation has made it a preferred choice for clients seeking tailored financial solutions.
Mr Luke Lim also highlighted the company’s forward-looking approach and dedication to staying ahead of industry trends. “Throughout the years, we have achieved significant milestones that have shaped our legacy. From launching Singapore’s first online trading platform, POEMS in 1996, to advancing financial literacy among the public, we have consistently sought to empower our clients with cutting-edge solutions,” he said.
Guests enjoyed an evening of fine dining, games, live entertainment, and networking in the elegant setting of The Grand Ballroom. The gala dinner featured a series of commemorative events, including a retrospective video showcasing PhillipCapital’s journey, the 50th Birthday cake-cutting, and the introduction of the key management team.
Members of the key management team include Mr Luke Lim, Mr Linus Lim, Mr Jeffrey Goh, Ms Lisa Lee, and Mr Teyu Che Chern. (For their biographies, please see Annex A.)
As part of its 50th Anniversary celebration, PhillipCapital will again be supporting the Children’s Cancer Foundation (CCF) through a Hair for Hope public satellite event (Sunday, 25 May, at Junction 8, Level 2 Atrium). Some PhillipCapital staff and financial advisory representatives have committed to shaving their heads to raise S$200,000 for childhood cancer. Clients, partners and the public are encouraged to support the PhillipCapital shavees by pledging donations to CCF.
At the end of the night, guests took away a special commemorative gift – a plantable pen. This pen contains seeds that are ready to be planted, nurtured, and grown. And like these seeds, PhillipCapital believes in laying strong foundations for growth that endure through the ages.
As PhillipCapital celebrates this golden milestone and looks ahead to its next chapter, the firm remains committed to growing responsibly – with you, for you, and for generations to come –
and seeks to continue its legacy of empowering clients and fostering sustainable growth across the financial industry.
